Consul General
Consul General Charles C. Jose is a career diplomat. He is an A.B. Economics graduate from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. He also has a masteral degree in Southeast Asian Studies from the National University of Singapore.
In the Home Office, he has held various executive positions such as Executive Director of the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs, Special Assistant at the Office of Policy Planning and Coordination, Executive Director (on secondment) of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Foreign Affairs in Malacañang Palace, Director of the North Asia Division of the Office of Asia and Pacific Affairs, and Assistant Director, then Acting Director of the Office of ASEAN Affairs.
Prior to his assignment to Shanghai, he served overseas as Consul General in Chonqing, China from 2009 to 2011, Minister and Consul General and Deputy Permanent Representative to UNESCAP at the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok from 2007 to 2009 and First Secretary then Minister at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore (on secondment to the APEC Secretariat) from 1999 to 2005. He was also Third Secretary and Vice Consul, then SecondSecretary and Consul, then First Secretary and Consul in the Philippine Embassy, Beijing, China from 1989 to 1995.
He is married to Maria Victoria H. Jose. They have two daughters.
Consul General Jose is the third Consul General assigned to Shanghai. He assumed his position on 26 March 2011. |
