The acclaimed Loboc Youth
Ambassador Brass Band from the scenic town of Loboc in Bohol will be in town
to represent the Philippines at the Shanghai Tourism Festival which will be
held from 12 to 14 September 2009. The band will join the grand parade as a
marching contingent, and other stage performances during the festival
playing a lively repertoire of Philippine and international melodies.
The group is composed of
talented students aged from 8 to 16 years old who play trumpet, saxophone
and other wind and beat instruments. The group participated in the 2008
Shanghai International Children’s Choral Contest upon the invitation of the
People’s Government of Xujing
District and the Philippine Soong Ching Ling Foundation.
The Loboc Youth Ambassador
Brass Band is one of the award-winning Philippine cultural performing groups
that will be featured in the Philippine Pavilion during the Shanghai World
Expo 2010. This visit to Shanghai is only a glimpse of what can be seen at
the Philippine Pavilion in 2010.
The band’s visit is made
possible thru the support of the Philippine Department of Tourism,
Philippine Consulate General Shanghai, Shanghai Tourism Festival Organizing
Committee, and the generous sponsorship of Liwayway (China) Co., Ltd, makers
of the famous Oishi snack brand. END
