February 2008 - The Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai organized a
get-together and consular mission for the Filipino community on 17
February 2008 at the multipurpose hall of the St. Peter’s Church in
Shanghai as part of its community outreach program.
Dubbed “Araw ng
mga Puso,” the activity was attended by over four hundred (400)
Filipinos living and working in Shanghai and surrounding cities and
towns and lasted the whole afternoon.
During the
event, the following consular services were offered to the members of
the community: passport renewal, community ID registration, counseling
and assistance to nationals, free medical consultation by volunteer
doctors, and remittance service courtesy of Metrobank Shanghai.
The
Philippine Musicians Association of Shanghai provided entertainment the
whole afternoon and various bands performed throughout the afternoon.
In her welcome
remarks to the community, Consul General Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez
reiterated the Consulate’s commitment to provide quality service to all
Filipinos in Shanghai and the areas under its coverage and to provide
full support for the community’s activities.
The event was
supported by the following partners: Liwayway (China) Co. Ltd., Figaro
Coffee Company, Metrobank Shanghai, Universal Robina Corporation,
Philippine Musicians Association of Shanghai and Filipino doctors from
Parkway Medical Services and SunTec. END
