ADVISORY ON FILIPINOS TRAVELING TO CHINA

DURING THE 2008 BEIJING OLYMPICS

________________________________________________________________________________

All Filipinos traveling to China for the Beijing Olympics in august and September 2008 are advised to apply for and acquire appropriate entry visas from the Chinese Embassy in Manila.

According to a circular note from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated 24 April 2008, the Chinese government has issued laws and regulations requiring visa applicants to present necessary documents such as invitation letter, family relationship certificate, hotel reservation in China and roundtrip air tickets, etc.  While it had made some adjustment in light of preparations for the Olympic Games, the Chinese government declared that normal travel to China has not been affected.  In this regard, it had advised foreigners to apply for and acquire Chinese visas before leaving for China from their countries of origin or long-term residence.

Filipinos intending to travel to China are therefore advised to observe this advisory to avoid unnecessary delay and expense. END
