Headed by CCPIT Zhejiang Sub-Council Vice Chairman Tie Jianshe, thirty-two
(32) Chinese companies based in Zhejiang attended the Forum. The forum also
brought together Filipino companies based in Shanghai such as Liwayway
(China) Co. Ltd., Figaro Coffee Company, Dai-ichi Electronics. Co. Ltd. and
representatives of the Bulacan Provincial Government headed by Provincial
Board Members Ramon Posadas and Glenn Santos and the Bulacan Chamber of
Commerce and Industry headed by its president,
Teofilo Rivera, Jr.
In her presentation
to the Chinese businessmen, Consul General Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez said
that the “Go Global” policy of the Chinese government towards its
Chinese companies and the varied business opportunities present in the
Philippines are clear opportunities that both Chinese and Philippine
businessmen should not pass up.
Chinese businessmen
attending the forum indicated their interest in investing in industrial
parks, garment manufacturing, trading, and resort development in the
Philippines, said Consul General Sanchez.
Bulacan
Province Board Members Posadas and Santos made a presentation on the
business opportunities in Bulacan while Figaro Coffee Company CEO, Pacita
Juan spoke of the "Prospects of the Specialty Coffee in China" in her
presentation. Here, she illustrates the entry of Figaro into the Chinese
market through its Shanghai shops and expresses hopes of expanding the brand
into other key cities in China.
The
highlight of the forum was the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between
the Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the
China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhejiang Sub-Council
& China Chamber of International Commerce Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce. The
Cooperation Agreement will promote the development of Zhejiang and Bulacan
trade relations through the exchanges of trade and investment delegations,
study groups, and the promotion of opportunities for trade and investment to
members of the chambers.
This forum
was a result of the February visit made by Consul General Sanchez to
Zhejiang where she was able to secure the full support of provincial
official and business leaders to the development of Philippines-Zhejiang
relations, particularly in travel, trade and investments.END |
