Sanchez led a delegation composed of Consul Aileen Mendiola, Tourism Attache
Gerry Panga, Tourism Administrative Officer Niel Ballesteros, Chief
Interpreter Michelle Tang and Figaro Coffee Area Manager Ros Juan to visit
Zhejiang Province recently and was warmly met by Vice Governor Zhong Shan
and Hangzhou Vice Mayor Tong Guili.
In her official talks with the officials of Zhejiang province and Hangzhou
City, Consul General Sanchez said that the sister province relationship of
Zhejiang with Bulacan and the sister-city relation of Hangzhou City with
Baguio City are good vehicles to help promote the people-to-people
relationship between the Philippines and Zhejiang.
Both sides agreed that there should be increased contacts and cooperation
between the Zhejiang and the Philippines and expressed their hope that
flights between the Philippines and Hangzhou will become more frequent and
eventually become regular. During the last Chinese New Year, Philippine
Airline flew several charter flights from Hangzhou to Boracay. This was
well received by tourists from the province.
During her official visit to Zhejiang, Consul General Sanchez called on
officials of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade
Zhejiang Sub-Council.
Consul General Sanchez was able to secure the full support of the province
to promote deeper bilateral cooperation in trade, and tourism.

She also visited the Alibaba headquarters in Hangzhou. Alibaba
is one of the world's premier e-commerce
brands and the number one online marketplace for global and domestic China
trade. Alibaba’s marketplace forms a community of more than 24 million
users from over 200 countries and regions. In her meeting with Alibaba’s
International Business Development and Marketing Group, Consul General
Sanchez said that she sees Alibaba further expanding its market coverage in
the Philippines since the services being offered by the company dovetails
with the economic development goals of the Philippine Government for its
small and medium enterprises. She enjoined Alibaba to consider the
Philippines as a potential investment and meeting destination. END
