26 February 2008 – Philippine Consul General to Shanghai Maria Rowena
Mendoza Sanchez reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the TV
News Center of Shanghai Media Group recently invited the Consulate General
and the DOT Office in Shanghai to its Headquarters.
Shanghai Media Group is one of the world’s most powerful and influential
Chinese-language media and entertainment groups, with radio and TV as its
core business reaching some one hundred million viewers. Other related
businesses include performing arts and sports, technical service and
investment. It was founded in 2001 after merging Radio Shanghai, Eastern
Radio Shanghai, Shanghai Television, Oriental Television Station and
Shanghai Cable Television.
After a thorough briefing on
SMG operations and a tour, Consul General Sanchez and SMG Vice Director Ni
Xiaoming agreed to enhance its partnership in promoting positive media image
of both China and the Philippines. END |
