Philippine Consul General to Shanghai Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez led a
delegation composed of Consul Aileen Mendiola-Rau, Tourism Attaché Gerard
Panga, Trade Assistant Hans Ding, Dai-ichi Electronics Shanghai Co. Ltd.
General Manager Lee Mie Yee and Production Manager Tsao Yingwa to visit
Anhui Province recently and was warmly met by Vice Governor Wen Haiying and
Hefei Executive Vice Mayor Zhang Xiaoling.
In her official talks
with the officials of Anhui province and Hefei City, Consul General Sanchez
said that the sister province relationship of Anhui with Nueva Ecija as well
as its friendly relations with Cavite Province are good vehicles to help
promote the people-to-people relationship between the Philippines and Anhui.
Both sides agreed that
there should be increased contacts and cooperation between the Anhui and the
Philippines and expressed their hope that business and tourism exchanges
between the Philippines and Anhui will become more frequent.
During the visit,
Executive Vice Mayor Zhang said that Hefei City welcomes the expansion of
cooperation in various fields and the strengthening of trade relations
between the two sides. He also said that Hefei City is interested to
establish sister-city relations with a Philippine city.
During her official visit
to Anhui Province, Consul General Sanchez called on officials of the China
Council for the Promotion of International Trade Anhui Sub-Council. Anhui
Sub-council Chairwoman Gao Hongmei said that their chamber is ready to
cooperate with the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai in promoting the
Philippines in Anhui Province.
Aside from the official
meetings, the delegation visited the JAC Automobile Group, one of the
leading manufacturers of MPVs, SRVs, sedans, buses and light trucks in
China. During the visit, Consul General Sanchez enjoined JAC to consider
expanding its presence in the Philippines in terms of setting-up its own
manufacturing facility in the Philippines. JAC’s automobiles and trucks are
